Hello guys,

I'm new to this forum.

I recently bought a cable to read my ecu rom via ECUFLASH, only to realize that my ecu wasn't supported because of a missing XML protocol or something like that. I did many research before buying the specific cable and uploading the needed software on my pc to be able to extract the rom off of my ecu.

Only thing is, I thought all of the Subarus from my era had an hitachi ecu which was supposed to be compatible with the software I intended to use. After digging under dash board, locating the ecu plate and removing it, to my surprise it is a denso unit.

Some forums say they aren't flashable via the obd port, some say it's possible and after many hours I finally came across FastECU. Seems like I should be able to read my ecu with this software but I think I am missing something.

Green connectors are plugged in, bunchof things are cycling but the check engine light isn't flashing which indicate that the ecu cannot be read at this moment (correct me if I'm wrong). There is a 4 pins white connector that need to be jumped underneath the dash (didn't touched it since I don't have the jumper connector to do so).

Now after all of this I am wondering this:

After all the trouble I've involved myself in, will I really be able to read my ECU and flash it with FastECU after jumping this connector and finding the right definition in FastECU to finally be able to extract the ROM from it? Has anyone played around with these or not since n/a legacy's aren't so popular?
